As part of the classical Catholic culture of the whole school beginning theschool year lead the preschool team of teachers by providing by speech and example guidance and direction encouraging collegiallilty and professionalism. As a teacher foster the growth of a childs awareness of their identity as a child of God by providing a classroom experience that promotes faith and a love of what is true good and beautiful in the Catholic tradition cultivating a development of the whole person including the sensory intellectual social and emotional levels. Responsibilities As the Director - Understand and uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church being a role model of Christian love faith and virtue and relating with students and fellow teachers through the love of Christ
- Guide preschool teachers to deepen their teaching practice and to attain necessary qualifications and professional development
- Set clear standards and expectations with the headmaster for preschool instruction in the classical Catholic approach and for the safety and wholistc welfare of the students.
- Receive reports from preschool teachers on routine concerns surrounding students.
- Cultivate a community of peace and professionalism among preschool teachers practicing often the virtues of patience and prudence.
- Send out overall preschool communications to parents keep the handbook updated and set expectations for preschool teachers classroom communications.
- Hold regular meetings with preschool teachers and the headmaster to facilitate a team approach.
- Consult with the headmaster on staffing curriculum and policy issues.
As a Lead Teacher - Maintain a clean and inviting classroom environment including inventory and upkeep of materials.
- Work with children with various social and cognitive abilities providing differentiated support and instruction.
- Be responsible for the safety welfare social emotional and educational growth of students.
- Provide and be available to parents for communication and conferences throughout the year.
- Complete and maintain all student records including progress reports ASQ reports conferences reports anecdotal notes and student portfolios.
- Arrive promptly by 7:30 AM to prepare for the arrival of children by 8:00 AM.
- Conduct oneself professionally by respecting student and family confidentiality.
- Participate in school functions that support the school community and sustainability of the school and especially the preschool as directed.
- Participate in professional training to fully serve each childs needs and to personally keep abreast with current developmentally appropriate practices and ideas for children between the ages of 3 and 6 years. The State of Michigan requires 16 hours of professional training each calendar year.
Qualifications - Exemplify and articulate a life of faith in esus Christ and the Catholic Church.
- Catechesis of the Good Shepherd certification (or obtain within two years of hire)
- Bachelors Degree and current teaching certificate (or obtain certification within three years of hire).
