Phlebotomist/EKG Technician Casual Second Shift

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Phlebotomist/EKG Technician to join our team. In this role you will assist patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings performing blood draws and EKGs. Youll be working in a fastpaced environment where building connections with patients is key many of whom youll see regularly. Phlebotomist/EKG Techs are vital members of our healthcare team and we are looking for individuals who excel in technical skills and contribute to a positive work environment. Were looking for someone who is open to learning receptive to feedback and dedicated to providing excellent patient care.

Healthcare experience is preferred and priority consideration will be given to applicants with phlebotomy experience.

Duties: Phlebotomist/EKG Technician

Responsible for duties related to performing adult and pediatric EKG testing specimen collection specimen processing and distribution of patient specimens for testing while adhering to department identification policies. Perform evaluate and report patient specimens using pointofcare instrumentation. Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment and provide excellent customer service.

Required Qualifications: Phlebotomist/EKG Technician

Minimum of 18 years of age required.
High school education or equivalent required.
Effective written and oral communication skills required.
Ability to demonstrate initiative teamwork and flexibility required.
Computer experience required.
Attention to detail required.
Ability to multitask required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of hire or transfer required must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1 2023 or later).


Preferred Qualifications: Phlebotomist/EKG Technician

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Successful experience in clinical laboratory medicine preferred.

Direct patient care experience OR completion of a phlebotomy course OR phlebotomy experience preferred.

Prior noninvasive cardiology experience preferred.
Experience with arrhythmias / 12 lead interpretations preferred.

College courses in physiology anatomy physics and/or other related subjects preferred.
Nationally recognized certification or registry in electrocardiography (EKG) preferred.

Successful completion of a nationally recognized phlebotomy certification program preferred.
