With over 400 employees in Southern Colorado you would be joining a mighty team of support and administrative staff case managers clinicians physicians nurses and others in our efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of our community.
Were hiring a fulltime Peer Support Specialist to join us at Respite Program at 41 Montebello in Pueblo.
Work Schedule: Thursday Friday Saturday 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
What Youd Be Doing
Peer Support Specialists Respite have progressed in their own recovery from substance abuse or a mental health condition and selfidentify as peers. Because of their own life experiences peers can support others in crises and assist them in recovery so they can remain in their community. The peer support specialist provides outreach and acts as a role model ally mentor planner advocate educator resource connector and tour guide for clients.
The Peer Support Specialist Respite works under the direction of the Crisis Services Supervisor and supervisory designee to
- Communicate with individuals who have sought out crisis services in respite;
- Support clients by offering them information and hope;
- Reassure clients through active listening and consultation;
- Find resources and make referrals to community partners;
- Transport clients as needed;
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living;
- Perform light housekeeping duties; and
- Order and prepare soups sandwiches snacks and meals;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director within the scope of the position may include working in other departments as needed.
- Physical requirements include the following:
- Must be ableto remain in a stationary position at least 50 of the time.
- Frequently communicates with physicians about medical notes must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator copy machine and computer printer.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items up to 15 pounds
- Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids

Qualifications
What Were Looking ForThe MustHaves
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Personal knowledge of and experience with behavioral health services
- Valid Colorado driver license and access to reliable transportation during work hours
- Good driving record
