What Youll Be Doing

This recruitment is foraSocial Worker II positions within the Department of Health and Human Services Adult Protective Services and Care Management Section Aging & Disability Services.Thisposition isFull Time.Social Worker IIemployeesin the Adult Protective Services and Care Management Section provide a wide variety of services to a culturally and linguistically diverse population of older adults and adults with disabilities with the aim to screen assess investigate and provide ongoing case management and service deliveryin order toprevent and reduce the risk of adult maltreatment and institutionalization.


Adult Protective Services (APS): ThisProgram serves persons aged 18 and over who lack the physical or mental capacity to provide for their daily needs. The purpose of the program is to prevent or remedy the abuse neglect selfneglect or exploitation of adults who are unable to protect their own interests and are at risk of immediate harm to their own person or to others. TheProgram provides professional services to protect the health safety and welfare of endangered vulnerable adults.


WHAT YOULL BE DOING:


Social Worker II employees provide direct professionalassistanceor care to clients. This work will involve screening assessing investigating and providing case management services for APS and Case Management Section programs; maintain accurate files; prepare reports and service agreements; testify in court; collaborate with multiple service providers; liaison with professional and community resources such as hospitals law enforcement nursing homes public safety programs schools medical professionals and other providers.


The Social Worker II independently plans and performs the successive stepstoaccomplishthe workin accordance withguidelines. Typicallyunusualand nonstandard matters lacking clear precedent are referred to the supervisor or a senior worker for guidance; the Social Worker II provides a recommendation. Regularly scheduled progress reviews are the norm; the work is expected to be professionally effective. Work is subject to review for quality quantity timeliness teamwork customer service and other factors. This work may involve occasional exposure to some risk of aggressive or unpredictable behavior by clients.


These positions require the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office. Employees will need tooperatea motor vehicle to transport clients supplies and equipment asappropriate.


Bilingual applicants in the Spanish/English languages are encouraged to apply. Pleaseindicateon your resume if youpossessthis multilingual skill. If the candidate selected for this positionpossessesmultilingual skills he/she willbe requiredto successfully pass an examination assessing oral communication reading comprehension and interpreting skills. For Advancedproficiency the candidate must also pass an examination requiring translating text from Spanish to English and vice versa.

Minimum Qualifications


Education:Possession of aMastersDegree in Social Work(MSW) from an accredited college or university that meets the criteria of graduate social work program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education


Experience:One 1 year of professional experiencerenderingsocial work services.


Equivalency:See Maryland Board requirements.


LICENSE:

Must be licensed as a Licensed Master Social Worker LMSW or higher by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment. Note: There will be no substitutions for this requirement.
