Job Description
Esquireseeks a Deputy Editor to assign edit and write news and humaninterest stories for all our platforms. The Deputy Editor will also edit our daily politics blog with Charles P. Pierce. The right candidate comes loaded with ideas as well as a stable of writers.
Responsibilities
- Assign and edit pieces ranging from quickturn stories newsy stories to longer reported pieces
- Edit and post daily political blogs from contributing political writer Charlie P. Pierce
- Edit print column from contributing political writer Charlie P. Pierce
- Write short articles and reported pieces
- Work closely with the design and photo team to execute larger packages
- Seek manage and grow relationships with both established writers and upandcoming voices to contribute
Qualifications
- 6 years of media experience in the consumer lifestyle space
- Experience working in a CMS including building stories
- Ability to work on deadline in a fastpaced environment
- Deadlinedriven creative thinker with a strong journalistic sensibility
- Versatile able to shift gears quickly and manage several projects simultaneously in a daily publishing environment
- Familiar with analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Google Trends
- Knowledge and familiarity with SEO best practices
The basesalaryfor this role is between $83000 $100000.The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors such as: transferable skills work experience business needs and market demands. The base payrangeis subject to change and may be modified in the future.
This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America East Collective Bargaining Agreement.
