Responsible for managing 50 states and Puerto Rico local and federalpayrolltaxcompliance planning andpayrollprocessing.
The functions include monitoring the grants for compliance with federal and state regulations and providing technical assistance to various internal and external stakeholders.
Responsible for ensuring federal compliance with grant requirements compliance with all federal reporting and entering all relevant information into PeopleSoft.
Serves as the subject matter expert fortaxconsiderations related to taxation of wages executive and equity compensation fringe benefits labor law changes state and local mandates andpayrollreporting.
Manages allPayrollfunctionsPayrollTax and Compliance.
Manages all 50 states plus Puerto Ricopayroll employmenttax and W2 compliance ensuring that all appropriatetaxreturns and payments are made on time including statetaxsetups. Ensures that 2000 employees are paid accurately and timely while maintaining SOX federal state and local compliance.
Prepares alltaxfilings payments and reconciliations biweekly and monthly and any inquiries from federal state or local labor andtaxagencies.
Research federal state and local laws/regulations related to FLSApayrolltax and benefits and partner with Legal Accounting and People Services in implementing and administering plans to ensure compliance.
Ensures the department is compliant with SOX policies and procedures.
Demonstrates and executes effective planning and project management
Manage the review and testing ofpayrollsoftwaretaxupdates earnings and deduction code setups and update unemploymenttaxrates inpayrollsoftware
Reconciles GLtaxaccounts and prepares related journal entries for the accounting department every month
Responds to inquiries and notices from the federal state and local labor andtaxagencies onpayrollrelated issues; ensure compliance with all such laws.
Assumes the lead role in federal and state agency audits; files amended returns as needed
Assists with BiweeklyPayrollProcessing.
Interprets and explains complexpayrolltaxinformation to all levels of the organization
Develops reports in Query Studio/Business Intelligence and performs data analysis as needed.
Provides teaching developing and mentoring toPayrollTeam
Improves technical competence keeps up to date on developments and technical issues and applies them to UTI
Reviews and challenges currentpayrollandpayrolltaxprocedures; apply continuous improvement methods to streamline processes and mitigate risk with sound and informed application oftaxand labor laws
Establish/maintain a highperformance team of professional motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training performance management and careerdevelopment activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics.
