Job Description
The Goldsmith Environmental Geochemistry Lab at the Department of Geography at Villanova University has a fully funded opportunity for a graduate student to participate in a collaborative project that will include municipalities and watershedfocused NGOs. The twoyear project will evaluate impacts of alternative road deicing practices on water quality in urban headwater streams. We seek a student who is excited to engage in a novel interdisciplinary project that will culminate in a M.S. degree in Environmental Science. In particular the student will assist in the installation of wireless water quality stations and the collection and analysis of water quality samples and discharge measurements. Possession of a drivers license and a willingness to work outdoors is a requirement. Experience with DIY sensors is a plus though not required. A willingness to coordinate with project partners and/or interest in translating technical and scientific information to disseminate with project partners to influence decisionmaking is also desired. Student background may include degrees from relevant backgrounds including but not limited to chemistry environmental science and earth sciences. We welcome and encourage applicants from groups historically underrepresented in STEM and Earth Sciences. We also encourage applications from those with prior academic and/or work experiences related to water quality.
