Job Description

The Department of History Philosophy & Geography seeks applications from qualified candidates for a fulltime nontenuretrack appointment in Geography beginning in Fall 2025. Area of specialization is open but an ability to teach introductory U.S. and World Geography courses is required. The base teaching load at A&MSA is 4/4. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.

Required Education and Experience:

  • M.A. in Geography or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution by the time of appointment.

  • A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Geography.

  • University teaching experience commensurate with the rank of Lecturer.

  • Availability to teach inperson classes.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Geography or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution by the time of appointment.

  • ArcGIS Experience.

  • Human and/or Urban Geography.

  • Ability to teach upper division Geography courses in the field of specialization.

  • Active research agenda in the field of specialization.

In a letter of interest which explains teaching experience please also speak to the following topics:

  • Courses prepared to teach or develop

  • ArcGIS and/or Human Geography

  • Research agenda in field of specialization

  • Approaches to teaching students from different backgrounds including firstgeneration college students.

Official transcripts must be on file with the Office of the Provost and sent directly from each degreegranting institution to Texas A&M UniversitySan Antonio at the address listed below. We cannot accept transcripts issued directly to the candidate. If transcripts are from an international institution it is the responsibility of the prospective faculty member to have the transcripts translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator (e.g. AACRAO; A&M UniversitySan Antonio
