Cost Accountant PURPOSE: The Cost Accountant position is for ensuring timely and accurate program cost reporting for the organization. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: - Compiles financial information to prepare entries to accounts such as general ledger accounts documenting business transactions and completes corresponding reconciliations.
- Assists with preparation of monthly and annual budgets
- Work with the operations team to ensure complete and accurate inventory transactions.
- Coordinate with Program Managers to help them analyze and understand their cost variances.
- Communicates with external auditors and satisfies their requests for information.
- Reviews investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries documents and reports
- Ensures that all deadlines are met in accordance with the closing dates set by management.
REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelors degree in Accounting
- 12 years handson experience in a cost accounting or manufacturing accounting role
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Intermediate level Excel user with ability to create formulas (vlookups a plus)
- Able to work with a minimum of supervision while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
- Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to details

- Ability to establish priorities and multitask
- Ability to work well under pressure and within short deadlines
- Working knowledge of Accounting Software E2 a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
