Rutgers The State University of New Jersey is a leading national research university and the state of New Jerseys preeminent comprehensive public institution of higher education. The Honors College CrossCultural Competency CCC course is a foundational 1.0 credit (tenweek) course required of all students at the Honors CollegeNew Brunswick helping to define the Colleges community culture and student outlooks. The course is offered through over thirty sections offered equally in both the fall / spring semesters. Instructors are an important part of the Honors College educational community and will work with a Course Coordinator and participate in a collective course planning workshop. The CCC is built around a teambased approach and Instructors are expected to learn from each other as well as the experiences of their own students. Instructors will develop a studentcentered community focused on fostering respectful engagement and intentional conversations about race gender class and culture among firstyear entering students of the Honors College. The course meets ten times 80 minutes per session during ten weeks of each semester. It is a creditbearing course that is graded passfail (PA/NC). The course is a required course for all 500 firstyear Honors students and thus we will be offering at least 30 sections over the course of the fall and spring semester.
