Job Description
Performs with minimal supervision duties including but not limited to inspections and minor maintenance of solar installations and energy/battery storage units.
What you will do
- Performs inspections and minor repairs on Solar and Energy/Battery installations throughout the Alliant Energy (WPL) footprint.
- Perform the housekeeping functions and equipment cleaning necessary to maintain the site in a clean and neat condition.
- Performs inspections on solar panels racking inverters wiring and controls.
- Perform inspection of site facilities including but not limited to buildings fencing gates roads culverts and onsite storage containers.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities of solar and battery facilities including both electrical and mechanical systems.
- The minor repairs include but are not limited to replacement of damaged solar panels replacement of batteries replacement of lighting equipment fence repair rerocking of sites minor inverter repairs racking repairs equipment touchup painting and proper site signage.
- High School Diploma Required
Preferred Experience
- Vocational/Technical School Training a plus.
- 02 years of industrial field experience in the solar or batter industry.
Other Requirements
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Employees in this job classification are covered by the Residency Policy and will be required to live within 60 minutes of their headquarters.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated mechanical ability.
- Basic knowledge of electricity the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) National Electric Code (NEC) and Alliant Services Standards.
- Ability to read and comprehend RightToKnow information.
- Working knowledge of OSHA 1910.269 NFPA 70E and 70B.
- Proficiency reading technical specification documents site plans and electric schematics.
- Good communication skills. Demonstrated ability to coordinate work and work with others.
- General computer network and technology proficiency.
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.
- Knowledge of company safety rules and practices.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
- Must be willing long overtime hours to maintain continuity of service as emergencies may require.
- Basic knowledge of electric utility systems operation maintenance and construction practices.
- Knowledge of solar and battery storage equipment.
