General Summary:
Under the direction of the Vice President and Chief Development Officer the Senior Director of Individual Giving is responsible for identifying cultivating growing and soliciting major gift and planned giving prospects to benefit Sheppard Pratt. The Senior Director is expected to carry a portfolio and work that portfolio bringing in at least $750K in year one and at least $2M in years 2. These goals will be reevaluated annually.
The Senior Director will direct and manage the Director of Development and the Director of Annual and Leadership Giving. Between these three positions the expectation is that they will generate over $2.5M in year one and at least $4M in years 2. These goals will be reevaluated annually.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Building Relationships
- Actively seeks to enhance Sheppard Pratts initiatives to meet the needs of patients families donors trustees staff local businesses government communities national organizations and foundations.
- Promotes and maintains positive relationships with donors staff physicians clinicians and patient families.
- Attend events and network in the community to represent Sheppard Pratt to the larger Baltimore DMV community.
- Raising Funds
- Collaborates with the VP and CDO to develop major and principle giving prospects for the health system.
- Personally communicates with and visits major and principle giving prospects and donors.
- Actively works their portfolio to identify qualify cultivate solicit and steward prospects and donors in their portfolio.
- Initiates and directs the preparation of solicitation letters proposals and other cultivation and stewardship materials for major and principle giving prospects and donors.
- Directs and manages the director of development and the director of annual and leadership giving and ensures their commitment and ability to achieve their annual goals.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:
- Requires bachelors degree and 10 years of nonprofit fundraising experience with an emphasis on major and principle giving.
- Health care fundraising background preferred mental and behavioral healthcare experience a plus.
- Must have experience managing a team.
- Work requires problem solving and conceptual skills using data to make recommendations and implement major and planned giving strategies.
- Work requires strong oral and written communication skills superior interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a wide variety of Sheppard Pratt employees physicians prospects and donors and the excitement and ability to speak knowledgeably and persuasively on behalf of Sheppard Pratt to potential donors and patient families.
- Work requires meeting deadlines responding promptly to donor requests for information and managing the demands of multiple projects.
- Work requires advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite Zoom and Raisers Edge fundraising software.

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to years and level of related experience.
