PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Elementary Child Nutrition Manager is responsible for supervising the cooking and preparation of meals for students to ensure compliance with Texas Department of Agriculture guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Graduate or GED
Experience in Child Nutrition management
Must poses and maintain current a Certified Food Management certificate approved by the State of Texas and local Heath Department
Computer knowledge
Lift 30 pounds continuously and occasionally up to 75 pounds
Capable of working well with others
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Supervise the preparation and cooking of meals for students.
- Supervise the daily operation of a school campus kitchen.
- Follow standardized recipes. Plan and order food and nonfood supplies to ensure adequate supply for weekly menu.
- Check deliveries for proper temperature and quality.
- Keep inventory of all supplies to avoid excess inventory
- Complete daily the food production record for breakfast lunch and/or snack along with daily work schedules.
- Train employees and supervise standard of work performance.
- Train staff on safety health and sanitation.
- Work for an effective staff relationship to develop skills.
- Work with the Director for Child Nutrition to learn school policies.
- Observe safety rules and regulations.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and evaluate Child Nutrition Staff as assigned to campus cafeteria
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Personal computer calculator large and small kitchen equipment to include but not limited to: electric slicer mixer pressure steamer sharp cutting tools ovens dishwashers and food and utility carts
WORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Conditions/physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Continual standing walking pushing and pulling: frequent stooping bending kneeling and climbing (ladder) heavy lifting and carrying; moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures
