Community Associate Shift Supervisor

Please Note: This position is pending a contract award. If you are interested in a future with Cherokee Federal APPLY TODAY! Although this is not an approved position we are accepting applications for this future and anticipated need.

Shift Supervisors will provide and oversee onsite traumainformed social service delivery at city sanctuary hotels throughout New York City. Working cooperatively with hotel operations and security staff shift supervisors will welcome and engage migrant and asylumseeking single adults families with children or adult families (without children). Supervisors will manage daily social service operations and provide n the ground support and supervision for community associates who are responsible for completing culturally sensitive assessments and making referrals.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Community Associate Shift Supervisor:Based on experience.

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical Dental Vision 401K and other possible benefits as provided.Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Community Associate Shift Supervisor Responsibilities Include:

  • Overseeing social services operations and seamless transitions from one shift to the next
  • Supervising and supporting community associates including reviewing complete assessments
  • Ensuring that community associates staff provide culturally sensitive traumainformed services
  • Ensuring appropriate staff coverage and monitoring attendance
  • Intervening in crises and counseling clients as needed
  • Planning and troubleshooting with operations and security staff
  • Coordinating interpretation and translation services
  • Troubleshooting with NYC Department of Education(DOE)
  • Coordinating interpretation and translation services
  • Troubleshooting with the Mayors Office of Immigration Affairs (MOIA)
  • Providing coverage for community associate staff as needed
  • Meeting with operations and security staff for planning and site management
  • Managing and documenting incidents
  • Managing and updating rosters and attendance
  • Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned

Community Associate Shift Supervisor Experience Education Skills Abilities requested:

  • Bachelors degree or two years of relevant social services experience with people who are vulnerable and have experiences significant trauma. Preferred: Masters degree on social work or other human services field two years of relevant experience working with people who enter the U/S. seeking asylum.
  • Strong understanding of trauma and how it manifests as well as experience delivering trauma informed culturally sensitive services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and problemsolve under pressure and within prescribes timelines
  • Strong organizational leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage team
  • Working knowledge of immigration laws and procedures
  • Strong understanding of child development child welfare and education requirements
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (Written and spoken) preferred
  • 2 years experience supervising social services staff in the delivery of culturally sensitive traumainformed services desired
  • Solid understanding of immigration laws regulations procedures and benefits/entitlements
  • Experience working onsite in a congregate housing setting
  • Experience working onsite in a congregate housing setting
  • Experience working with the NYC Department of Education and Administrations for Childrens Services child welfare systems
  • Past applicable job experience may include but is not limited to: Community Engagement Supervisor Shift Coordinator or Community Operations Shift Lead.
  • Must pass preemployment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
