About the Role

This role is based in the Karlup Service a holistic recoverybased service aimed at supporting women and children to heal from family and domestic violence. The Karlup Service provides a range of offerings from the Angela Wright Bennett Centre in a state of the artpurposebuiltfacility based in Perths CBD.

The successful candidate will use their Lived Experience of family and domestic violence in an intentional way and will walk alongside the clients they support in a way that empowers them to retain selfdetermination. Through intentional sharing mutuality and collaboration with the clients they support Peer Recovery Workers will foster human connection and hope for clients to regain capacity and a sense of direction and control in their lives.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team Peer Recovery Workers will support clients on their recovery journey as they navigate services and work towards establishing an independent life for themselves and their children.

This is a fulltime permanent position. Please note that this position is only available for employees who identify as female due to the inherent requirements of the role. This is a genuine occupational qualification.

What were looking for

The successful applicants will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (minimum of 75 completed) or completion of Peer Skillset at TAFE.
  • A Lived or Living Experience of recovery from family and domestic violence and related social factors such as mental health challenges alcohol and other drug issues and a demonstrated professional understanding of how to use this experience to inform work as a Peer.
  • Experience working in a similar or community work setting.
  • A demonstrated understanding of Trauma Informed Practice principles and ability to implement this in daytoday practice.
