What you will be doing:

This role is ideal for individuals with expertise in financial oversight audit management and Medicaid program integrity. In this position you will:

  • Serve as Alaskas Medicaid Program Integrity Office manager coordinating Medicaid audit and program integrity activities and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Manage and oversee Medicaid quality assurance and audit activities for the Department of Health including management of provider overpayment recovery sanctions and selfaudit programs.
  • Supervise and direct audit staff and oversee audit programs including recovery audits and federally required audits such as PERM ARRA and HITECH audits.
  • Act as the primary liaison with other agencies on auditrelated matters coordinating closely with the Department of Laws Medicaid Fraud Control Unit federal oversight agencies and CMS Medicaid Integrity Contractors.
  • Lead agency communications presenting audit findings recommending corrective actions and ensuring departmental compliance with audit recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

  • Auditing: Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures for conducting financial and compliance economy and efficiency and program audits.
  • Financial Systems: Knowledge of the standards architecture and specifications of automated financial systems including source documents system flows system interfaces and related internal controls.
  • Organizational Awareness: Knows the organizations mission and functions and how its social political and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs policies procedures rules and regulations of the organization.
  • Leadership: Influences motivates and challenges others; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations.
  • Manages Human Resources: Plans distributes and monitors work assignments; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Certification as a Certified Public Accountant;
And/or
Postsecondary education in accounting public administration business administration or a closely related field that includes or is supplemented by 16 semester hours/24 quarter hours in accounting and 3 semester hours/4 quarter hours in auditing;
And/or
Progressively responsible professional experience performing the full range of audit functions that includes examination of agency operations and internal management fiscal and accounting controls and serving as an auditorincharge leading a team of lowerlevel auditors performing full scope audits.

Special Note:
Training and education are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom online selfstudy and onthejob) from accredited and unaccredited sources and longduration (such as a postsecondary degree) and shortduration (such as a seminar) programs.

Professional experience means work that is creative analytical evaluative and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the professions principles concepts theories and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to ones own judgment.

Progressively responsible means indicating growth and/or advancement in complexity difficulty or level of responsibility.
