This position is being recruited in both Anchorage and Juneau; final location is based on the location of the selected candidate.






What You Will Be Doing

This position supervises and leads a team of four IT Help Desk professionals in the Department of Revenue. The IT Help Desk administers IT support to everyday hardware and software technologies such as desktop and laptop computers email network Windows and Microsoft Office and other business applications.



Mission and Culture

The Department of Revenue Administrative Services Division contributes to the Departments mission by providing efficient and effective administrative services in support of the Departments programs. The Microcomputer Network Specialist 2 provides technical support and customer service across the Departments primary divisions.

Computers: Knowledge of circuit boards processors chips and computer hardware and software including applications and programming.

Customer Service:* Works with clients and customers (that is any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces including the general public individuals who work in the agency other agencies or organizations outside State government) to assess their needs provide information or assistance resolve their problems or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Operating Systems: Knowledge of computer network desktop and mainframe operating systems and their applications.

Teamwork: Encourages and facilitates cooperation pride trust and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.

Technical Problem Solving: Troubleshoots diagnoses analyzes and identifies system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem.

Managing Performance: Takes responsibility for employees performance by setting and communicating expectations and goals that are specific and measurable tracking progress against goals supporting employees efforts to achieve job goals (by providing resources removing obstacles acting as a buffer etc. ensuring feedback and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.

Background Checks:

Requirement to pass any required Federal background checks both now and in the future in accordance with federal laws and regulations governing employment within state government and handling sensitive information. (Required per National Directory of New Hires (NDNH) Social Security Administration (SSA) Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Employment and Training Administration (ETA).

FBI Fingerprinting (FD258 review of fingerprint results will be conducted to identify any suitability issues.

Check of local law enforcement agencies where the subject has lived worked and/or attended school within the last five 5 years and if applicable of the appropriate agency for identified arrests.

Validate the subjects eligibility to legally work in the United States.

Once every 5 years a rescreen shall occur.
