The ideal candidate will foster inquirybased learning critical thinking and a handson approach to science instruction. This role requires an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement ensuring that all students including English Language Learners (ELLs) receive highquality science instruction in an inclusive and supportive environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum & InstructionDevelop and implement a standardsaligned high school science curriculum that incorporates inquirybased learning handson experiments and realworld applications.Teach courses in Biology Chemistry Physics or Environmental Science integrating projectbased learning and interdisciplinary connections.Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners ensuring accessibility for ELLs and students with disabilities.Incorporate technology data analysis and scientific literacy into instruction to enhance student engagement and learning.Student Engagement & Academic SupportFoster a classroom environment where students develop critical thinking problemsolving and scientific reasoning skills.Utilize formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and inform instruction.Provide targeted support to English Language Learners (ELLs) ensuring equitable access to rigorous science content.Support students in developing science portfolios participating in research projects and engaging in STEMrelated extracurricular activities.Collaboration & School EngagementWork collaboratively with colleagues to integrate science concepts into other disciplines through EL Educations expeditionary learning model.Participate in professional development and schoolwide initiatives to continuously improve instructional practices.Communicate regularly with families to support student growth and success in science learning.Serve as an advisor or mentor to students supporting their academic and personal development.Qualifications & ExperienceRequired:Bachelors degree in Science Science Education or a related field (Masters preferred).Massachusetts teaching certification in Science 912.SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement required.Experience teaching high school science in an urban school setting.Strong understanding of inquirybased and studentcentered learning.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support student learning and the overall success of Codman Academy.Preferred:Experience with EL Education or projectbased learning.Background in supporting ELLs and students with diverse learning needs.Passion for STEM education and commitment to equity in science education.Salary Range: Based on CACPS scaleWhy Join Codman AcademyCodman Academy is a missiondriven charter school committed to fostering rigorous academics character development and realworld learning experiences.
