The Department of Neuroscience at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the nontenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of mammalian somatosensory system and primary afferent neurons. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include include conducting independent and collaborative research using singlecell technologies and molecular cellular and circuit manipulations to examine the effects of the human and mouse somatosensory afferents in physiological and pathological conditions. A strong record of original peerreviewed publications in this research area collaboration mentoring and interpersonal skills is also required.Additional responsibilities may include the establishment of an independent extramurally funded research program.
Candidates should have expertise and demonstrated experience in working with human primary tissues single cell RNAseq spatial transcriptomics and largescale transcriptomic data analysis. In addition the candidate should have experience in using mouse tools to study conserved mechanisms in mice. Finally a deep understanding of the literature underlying the molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with the mammalian somatosensory system is desirable.
