POSITION TITLE: Quality Control Technical Lead

*This is a leadership role! (This position will have 4 direct reports: 3 quality inspectors and 1 chemist)
Luxfer Magtech specializes in developing manufacturing and supplying a broad range of products that safeguard and protect ranging from flameless ration heaters that give our U.S. Military a hot meal; innovative chemical response kits designed to detect and decontaminate chemical warfare agents; to nutritious hot food and beverage options for militaries and first responders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Quality Control Technical Lead at Luxfer Magtech will maintainand documentthe flow of quality product by providing technical support troubleshooting and developing innovative quality solutions for all new and existing products and processes. This position is instrumental in providing process improvements quality safety upgrades and productivity improvements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work closely with Production Engineering and 3rd party inspection leadership to ensure:
    • Quality expectations are effectively communicated.
    • Production processes are capable of meeting expectations.
    • Customers receive products that meet or exceed requirements.
  • Oversee inspection activities and product testing to quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Generate nonconforming material reports review and disposition nonconforming materials.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and lead Cause and Preventative Action (C&PA) activities.
  • Compile certifications and other customer required documents as required.
  • Review and disposition Returned Goods.
  • Generate rework procedures/instructions.
  • Generate Inspection Instruction as defined or needed.
  • Maintain equipment calibration schedules.
  • Liaise with independent inspection agency on matters of product compliance.
  • Assist in defining and implementing process controls that will enable process improvement through the reduction of process variability.
  • Establish training procedures. Lead training of personnel in proper use of inspection equipment and quality requirements. Document training and perform ongoing evaluation of operator skills for the quality team.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues. Conduct audits of suppliers as needed.
  • Work with customers as required to resolve quality concerns understand quality requirements and participate in audits where needed.
  • Lead and/or participate in s and rework reduction projects.
  • Conduct internal audits of production and quality management system functions
  • Act as an authorized representative of the Quality Manager in his absence
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors Degree required preferred disciplines includeScience or EngineeringChemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • 3 to 5 years ofquality control experience required in an industrial environment
  • Experience with government contracts and familiarity with MIL specifications is highly desirable
  • Quantitative chemistry experience with GC and titration required
  • Project Management certificate desirable
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)

  • Ability to stand and walk most of the day and lift to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds bend or stoop
  • Must be able to regularly reach with hands/arms and speak clearly/hear; required to stand walk sit and use hands to manipulate handle or feel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus
