Your next career opportunity
As a Research Optometrist/Orthoptist youll play a crucial role in a large clinical project investigating genetic changes in inherited retinal diseases. Youll have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research working with a multidisciplinary team to collect and manage clinical data coordinate participant recruitment and assist in genetic sample collection. This role offers you the chance to enhance your clinical skills while contributing to innovative diagnostic tools and treatments for genetic eye conditions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct Clinical Assessments: Perform participant research assessments including refraction visual acuity tests and retinal imaging.
  • Manage Research Data: Collect and manage clinical data ensuring compliance with research protocols and data quality standards.
  • Coordinate Project Activities: Schedule assessments manage timelines and liaise with clinicians and patient support groups.
  • Collaborate with Research Team: Work closely with investigators and team members to ensure smooth project progress and contribute to research development.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a qualified optometrist or orthoptist with clinical eye care experience strong organisational skills and excellent interpersonal abilities capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

You may also:

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in Optometry or Orthoptics with rights to practice in Australia.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and ability to adhere to study protocols.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Have experience in clinical research or project management (desirable).
  • Be familiar with basic genetics concepts or inherited retinal diseases (desirable).
  • Have knowledge of clinical research processes and ethical guidelines (desirable).
