Job description
We are looking for an experienced SRE Database candidate with a good understanding of Linux systems who will be responsible for ensuring the performance availability and security of clusters of MySQL instances. You will be responsible for orchestrating upgrades backups performance monitoring and provisioning of database instances for a high demand fast growing environment with tens of Terabytes of data. These are engineers who are passionate about reliability performance and efficiency and with experience in building tools services and automation to manage and improve production services.
Responsibilities
o Provision and manage farms of multimaster MySQL/galera clusters (Linux) across geographical locations
o Ensure performance security and availability of databases
o Handle common database procedures such as upgrade backup recovery migration.
o Manage database changes. alters & other ddls
o Manage infrastructure components outside DB systems and ensuring overall reliability of service
o Troubleshoot issues across the stack hardware software application and network
o Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
o Participate in oncall rotation
Skills and Qualifications
o Experience in Linux is a must
o Strong proficiency in MySQL database management
worked with large farms of db clusters 10
large size of dbs 1TB
o Understanding of MySQLs underlying storage engines( InnoDB) and experience with replication configuration
o Knowledge of defacto standards and best practices in MySQL
o Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
o Ability to effectively manage / augment capacity
o Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases is a plus
o Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases is a plus
o Proficient understanding of code versioning tools like git
o Ability to mentor younger engineers
