Position Summary
A SIGN ON BONUS OF $4668 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE : $2334 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $2334 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE . This position performs daily inspections maintenance and minor repairs of the UNC parking facilities parking equipment lighting systems and cleaning equipment used by the Transportation and Parking maintenance section. Performs annual restriping of parking lots. This position will determine staffing levels for maintaining the deck structure in good repair performing routine maintenance ensuring that it is clean well lighted free of trip and fall hazards and all equipment operates safely and properly. The employees in this division must be knowledgeable of all working components of the parking facilities including lighting elevators various types of parking control equipment maintenance and repair equipment computerized programmers for parking equipment concrete construction plumbing emergency call boxes and emergency standpipe systems. This division is responsible for ensuring that the decks operate safely during adverse weather conditions.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Candidate must have knowledge of the principles and techniques of a variety of mechanical and electrical trades be able to follow oral/written instructions possess knowledge and experience working with manual and power tools including digital multimeter and digital testing equipment. Thorough knowledge of general maintenance repair and troubleshooting of electromechanical equipment. Knowledge of construction techniques & tools methods practices equipment and materials used in in basic parking facilities maintenance. Ability to accurately report work performed with good communication skills verbal as well as written. Good customer service skills. Valid North Carolina drivers license required in order to operate departmental vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Preferred candidate should be able to interpret blueprints schematics and/or parking facilities drawings ability to estimate and perform construction projects. Knowledge and ability of computer systems including Microsoft Office Excel Word and job specific software. The ability to troubleshoot and repair electromechanical parking equipment. Experience with the operation and maintenance of a rearwheeled vehicle. Supervisory experience.
