Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Neutronics Analyst to work in our Nuclear Science & Technology department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our EROB facility in Idaho Falls with every other Friday off.
Our Neutronics Analyst will need to apply analytical techniques and tools to evaluate understand and explain nuclear interactions and behaviors. Neutronics analysis capability to enable the design fabrication irradiation shipping handling and post irradiation examination (PIE) and investigation of irradiation experiments. Typically these irradiation experiments are conducted in INL nuclear facilities such as the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) the Transient Reactor Test (TREAT) Facility or the Hot Fuel Examination Facility (HFEF).
Apply scientific/engineering principles theories and concepts to understand explain and defend physical conditions and phenomena. Contribute to diverse engineering project teams and function as a subject matter specialist. Perform work under the direction and oversight to ensure correctness completeness and quality of results. Work activities conducted to support established requirements schedules and budgets. Meet expectations to ensure accuracy quality and completeness of input parameters assumptions calculations analyses models results and deliverables.
Specifically performing calculations creating models evaluating and analyzing the entire life cycle of irradiation experiments. Using analytical tools (e.g. MCNP SCALE Mathcad RELAP5 to achieve results. Perform work using high performance computer (HPC) systems. Learn and apply established facilityspecific requirements to support all the irradiation experiment life cycle.
An eager and engaged participant collaborating on diverse engineering project teams with the working both independently and as a team member. Taking direction from management team members and peers and provide feedback to management team members and peers. You are expected to improve and make positive impacts to cost schedule and discovery within the area of specialization. Also maintaining currency in relevant engineering and scientific literature and methods prepare internal and external reports contribute to peerreviewed publications prepare presentations and present work status with results at technical meetings.
