Job Description
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for assisting the ARS team with supporting the UCSF Research Radiology groups by creating communicating and implementing their vision and requirements within the UCSF IT Infrastructure.

The Operational Admin for our Radiology IT Services department role is multifaceted involving database administration application programming IT project management systems administration systems and process analysis security and business technical support. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Linux environments NETAPP storage solutions and the ability to solve complex research use cases through technical infrastructure administrative duties seen as a leader or knowledgeable resource in the administrative field.

This position will be heavily involved in working directly with UCSF Radiologists and research scientists to understand their infrastructure needsand support leading IT projects administering Linux systems analyzing and improving systems and processes implementing security measures and providing technical support to radiology staff and researchers. The incumbent in this position will need to analyze complex issues and work within defined procedures and practices recommending the appropriate action. In addition they will need to intimately learn the services currently supported by the current team and offered ARS to provide adequate support system stability and end users.

This position works with different levels of stakeholders in the radiology research areas including the other departmental IT resources that support different areas of research. Across research areas works with those stakeholders to support and understand how to effectively support them with technical solutions and tools. These solutions will be supported by central IT and the incumbent will be working with and a part of that team to either enhance or expand current offerings to support business and security requirements or provide recommendations for successful support.

The Operational Administrator will work closely with ARS teams as well as their manager to oversee the implementation setup and management of the research services and support. In addition they will need to work with the various teams in UCSFs central IT and learn how they can be used to meet the requirements of the research community. Areas include UCSFs Security Compliance Research Data Research Administrative Applications and Research Infrastructure (onprem and cloud).

The position will include supporting groups with older image acquisition devices that are no longer supported by a vendor and/or have obsolete software or operating systems. The Operational Administrator must maintain the systems in as secure as possible manor using technical controls and mitigations to achieve security on systems that cannot be updated without impacting image/data quality while maintaining accessibility. There will be times when old hardware and archaic software need to be debugged.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $101300 $151900 (Annual Rate).

Advanced skills associated with programming design modification and implementation. Basic knowledge of secure software development. Demonstrated ability to create software specifications. Must have strong Linux skills and be able to write and debug complex shell scripts.

Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.

Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.

Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices peripherals and software. Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client server and peripheralsrelated issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Understanding of basic networking IP VLANS firewalls and tools and methods for debugging networking issues. Experience in incident response and digital forensics including data collection examination and analysis.

Advanced knowledge of computer security tools best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing serverbased software. Demonstrated skill at administering moderately complex security controls and configurations to computer hardware software and networks.

Broad knowledge of various areas of IT

Demonstrated acomprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems system users and dependent/related functions.

Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements.

Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and nontechnical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and nontechnical information in a clear and concise manner.

Works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated problemsolving skills. Ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

• Relevant certifications (e.g. RHCSA RHCE NETAPP Certified)
• Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs
• Demonstrated experience with database administration. Working knowledge of database management systems and standards. Knowledge relating to database system design. Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with moderately complex databases.
• Familiarity with centralized system management including the use of source control software (preferably git) distribution systems including Ansible scripting and Tower/AWX use.
• Extensive experience with Linux environments and NETAPP storage solutions or other Petabyte scale storage and enterprise backup systems such as Rubrik
• Familiarity with DICOM and HIPAA standards.
• SLURM HPC experience.

This position will be housed within the Central IT which provides architecture infrastructure network security analytics integration and application support services and is essential to the organizations ability to support growth mitigate security risk and manage store and share sensitive information. Specifically this position will report to the Academic Research Services Team (ARS) which is focused on providing central services for researchers and providing dedicated support to Radiology.
