EXPERIENCE INDUSTRY MANAGEMENTS RECREATION PARKS & TOURISM ADMINISTRATION PARTTIME LECTURER POOL within the College of Agriculture Food and Environmental Sciences at Cal Poly is seeking applications for a pool of parttime lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2025/26 academic year. Responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate courses in resort and lodging management; hospitality conventions & meeting management; special event planning; festival & event management leadership & diverse groups; professionalism & customer experiences; experiential marketing; financing recreation parks & tourism and introduction to the experience industry.
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024 the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5507$6677
Lecturer B: $6221$13224
Lecturer C: $6825$14523
Lecturer D: $8593$15211

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree required in Recreation Parks Leisure Studies or related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
M.S. in Recreation Parks Tourism or related field preferred. Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:
hospitality management; event planning; convention management; experiential marketing; recreation leadership; risk & facility management; grants and resources development; environmental education; finance.
Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative supportive and inclusive environment. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Following a conditional offer of employment a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment. The Experience Industry Management Department of the College of Agriculture Food and Environmental Sciences offers a B.S. in Recreation Parks & Tourism Administration and an M.S. in Agriculture with a specialization in Recreation Parks and Tourism Management. The Experience Industry Management department accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Parks Recreation Tourism and Related Professions offers areas of study in Event Planning and Management Hospitality and Tourism Management Sport Management Outdoor Adventure and Resource Recreation and Community Services Management.
The Experience Industry Managements vision is to promote healthy lifestyles protect memorable places and facilitate lifeenhancing experiences.
