Job Description

DVConnect is a leading provider of evidencebased traumainformed services for people impacted by all forms of personal violent crime including those who use and experience violence in their relationships. Our purpose is to create pathways for a life free from violence and fear.

We are excited to announce that Womensline is introducing a pilot role IMMEDIATE RESPONSE PRACTITIONER

  • Parttime1530hrs per week (shifts are scheduled 08:00 18:00
  • Fixedterm until 30/06/2025
  • Start date 14.04.2025

The role

The Immediate Response Practitioner (IRP) role serves as the primary point of contact for individuals seeking crisis support information and guidance. Immediate Response Practitioners are integral members of the Womensline team contributing to the delivery of domestic and family violence support to women across Queensland in alignment with the operating framework and principles of DVConnect. Key responsibilities include;

  • respond to all incoming calls with compassion and a strong understanding of intersectionality and vulnerabilities.
  • provide professional culturally sensitive and nonjudgemental responses and conduct initial risk and needs assessments to identify suitable support pathways.
  • immediate action of inbound and outbound referral requests.
  • ensure quality timeliness and accuracy of work (e.g. concise and accurate database entries and case notes).

Remuneration

  • SCHADS Award Level 4 $43.51 p/hr) plus 11.5 super.

Essential requirements

***This position must be filled by a woman as permitted under sections 25 104 and 105 of the AntiDiscrimination Act 1991.***

  • Completed tertiary qualification in Behavioural Science Social Work Human Services or other relevant fields acceptable by DVConnect.
  • Knowledge and understanding of intersectional feminist practice and other relevant practice frameworks used to respond to the gendered nature of violence against women and children.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and analysis of the effects causes and dynamics of domestic and family violence.
  • Professional culturally sensitive and nonjudgement interpersonal skills to maintain information accuracy and client safety (e.g. database entries).
  • Exceptional and effective interpersonal conflict resolution and consultation skills .
  • Experience (or a strong understanding) in providing supportive and culturally safe spaces for diverse groups including First Nations peoples individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds people with a diagnosed disability and members of the LGBTQI community.
  • Competent IT literacy and telephone communication skills with a proven ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Current paid (P) Blue Card and willingness to complete National Crime Check facilitated by DVConnect (employment is subject to satisfactory checks incl. reference checks).
  • Valid photo ID.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Commitment to attend all shifts from Brisbane office.
