Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) the Director of Nursing (DON) oversees and manages nursing services across program sites; assists in developing department goals objectives and standards of performance policies and procedures; organizes the department in accordance with administrative guidelines and evaluates proposed changes as they relate to patient care; and directs the implementation and ensures compliance with Standards of Nursing Practice that promotes optimum health care delivery. The DON ensures that efficient systems are in place staff is properly trained and standardized protocols are established. The DON is responsible for implementing and evaluating systems within the centers that promote quality of care while monitoring associated costs standardizing equipment and supplies systemwide for efficiency and cost containment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the COO/CMO and management team lead the effective delivery of nursing protocols. Provide leadership and direct oversight of Registered Nurses and Licensed Vocational Nurses as well as oversight of medical assistants competencies and protocols.
  • Develop oversee and monitor the implementation of nursing care management.
  • Ensure the organizations mission vision and values including high quality and patient focused care are evident throughout all nursing services.
  • Achieve optimal patient satisfaction by ensuring excellent customer service at all nursing levels.
  • Ensure that all patients receive the highest standards of care through the oversight of core competencies and ongoing training of the medical support team (Medical Assistant Licensed Vocational Nurse and Registered Nurse). Ensure compliance with appropriate scope of practice and nursing processes including the development and maintenance of policies and procedures to support these efforts.
  • Analyze recommend and support nursing performance improvement projects. Coordinate with related departments and functions to assure appropriate information flow and understanding of overall process. Guide staff in the implementation and of process improvement tools and methods.
  • Monitor the progress of planned improvement implementation and evaluate outcomes.
  • Ensure nursing services comply with Federal and State laws EVCHC policies and procedures as well as with external regulatory bodies such as PCMH FQHC HIPAA OSHA CLIA and other professional review and standards boards.
  • In collaboration with the COO/CMO and management team leads and effectively delivers an efficient Vaccine Management Program for the organization
  • Member of QM Admin. And QM Clinical committees. Contribute to the success of the organization by developing standardizing and participating in quality improvement activities in conjunction Operations & QM committees. Chair the Neighborhood Vaccine Committee in conjunction with Pharmacy Team.
  • Ensure nursing compliance to regulatory measures related to clinical quality
  • Provide data analysis of clinic quality improvement activities to the management team QM committee or team as requested or assigned.
  • Responsible for the development and oversight of clinical support staff competencies.
  • Enforces a culture of safety and ensures appropriate patient safety standards and guidelines are implemented throughout the delivery of health care.
  • Collaborates with clinic leadership on safety and risk management issues advises on appropriate corrective action and development opportunities.
  • Monitors key indicators of clinical support staff performance and leads continuous improvement efforts to enhance clinical services and patient experience.
  • In collaboration with clinic leadership selects orients and trains key clinical support staff.
  • Develops and implements quality and utilization standards across the continuum of care to ensure coordinated plans of treatment customerfocused delivery of services and cost effective utilization of necessary services. Actively supports quality improvement processes which may include meetings data collection and charge auditing
  • Responsible for collaboration with QI Team in establishing quality related strategic plans policies and procedures for all clinics.
  • Minimize losses to the organization overall by proactively identifying analyzing preventing and controlling potential clinical business and operational risks.
  • Acts as facilitator for QM projects as requested or assigned by Director of Quality.
  • Achieve patients timely and appropriate access to services by maintaining a consistent and balanced nursing workforce.
  • In conjunction with the COO/CMO and management team to develop annual clinic budgets working collaboratively to meet budgetary revenue requirements by ensuring nursing services adhere to established caseloads and improvement in health outcomes.
  • Develop a talented and motivated staff with focus on engagement and satisfaction while ensuring optimal efficiency and accountability.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of the health care environment as it relates to outpatient service delivery and best practices.
  • Participate in staff management and provider meetings as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in nursing healthcare public health or business administration preferred.
  • Completion of accredited Registered Nurse training program and current unrestricted license as an RN in the State of California.
  • Masters degree in Nursing with emphasis on Health Care Administration or related masters degree is preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum five 5 years of progressive nursing leadership supervision and quality improvement experience;
  • Minimum five 5 years of continuous clinical experience in a clinical/acute setting;
  • Current national professional certification in nursing leadership professional development or clinical practice (RNBC NEBC NEABC CNML CNEP CNOR RNCOB etc.
  • Proven track record of successfully organizing directing evaluating and coordinating patient care services in complex health systems;
  • Director level experience in acute or outpatient clinical setting;
  • Proficiency with electronic health records;
  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Exhibits progressive professional development

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • This job operates in an office as well as clinic settings and requires frequent times of sitting standing repetitive motion and talking;
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and move from place to place;
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures related to safe work practices;
  • Requires current and valid drivers license and current personal auto insuranceas well as reliable transportation;
  • Involves extensive travel to DAP Health locations throughout San Diego and the Coachella Valley;
  • Available for all shifts and when required able to work evenings and weekends.
