SCOPE OF POSITION
The Senior Accountant is responsible for participating and supervising the accounting and reporting for group entities within the organization. Key functions for this position include financial management and tax reporting to support the strategic direction and operations of the company providing analytics to support significant business decisions ensuring compliance with regulatory and tax filings leading/supporting special projects.
ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
- Responsible for fullcycle accounting (balance sheet and P&L) reporting and tax compliance of
multiple business units. - Responsible for monthend and quarterend close reconciliation reporting and yearend
preparation of audit working papers. - Provide guidance and assistance to ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory
and tax filing requirements. - Analyze and ensure timely and accurate financial information for management review and
presentation. - Assist in the preparation of the annual budget CAPEX plan and cash flow forecast.
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger and reconcile it to general ledger accounts.
- Maintain and reconcile the Bank AR and AP subledger accounts to general ledger accounts.
- Record routine to complex intercompany transactions including monthly reconciliation of
intercompany balances. - Record and reconcile foreign currency transactions and balances.
- Process and analyze accounts receivable invoices and ageing.
- Prepare government reporting and remittances (GST PST Receiver General etc.
- Supervise/analyze/perform/record bank reconciliations for multiple business units and bank
accounts.
- Supervise/analyze/process/record accounts payable and vendor payment.
- Support/lead accountingrelated special projects.
- Other responsibilities and duties as required.
SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education requirements
- Completion of a bachelors degree in accounting business administration or a related field.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) in good standing.
- Thorough understanding and application of IFRS.
Experience requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of postdesignation accounting experience preferably in the engineering
manufacturing or construction industries.
Technical Requirements
- Ability to analyze and evaluate operating results against budgets and forecasts.
- Be able to prepare monitor and analyze financial accounts managerial reports and tax
compliance.
- Be able to provide key decision support to senior management in the preparation of financial
management and tax reporting
- Must be able to analyze complex operations and provide support and recommendation in relation
to proper accounting and tax treatment
- Lead support and provide documentation in the development of new processes procedures and
analytical reports.
