DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Therapeutic Activities Aide you will conduct planned sessions of resident activities under the direction of the Therapeutic Recreational Services staff. Your work will lead the residents of the Southwestern Veterans Center to their highest level of physical cognitive and social abilities. Your duties will include assisting in planning organizing scheduling and conducting recreational and educational activities to enhance or retain the residents functionality in the areas of socialization interpersonal relationships selfrespect selfesteem and selfhelp. You will also conduct and participate in program activities such as social parties dinners bus and van rides games field trips crafts and other leisure time activities. Additionally you will create a safe space for residents and visitors maintain working relationships with veteran organizations and act as a lead worker for volunteers at the center.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Fulltime employment 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.You will work every other weekend and holiday.
- Travel and overtime as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Six months of work experience providing care to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will requirea medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including but not limited to PA State Police and FBI clearance.
In accordance with the seniority provisions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement this position was previously posted for seniority candidates. Since there were no seniority candidates it is now open to all applicants.
