Job Description

Overview

Utah State University Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS; is seeking a Staff Psychologist to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a collegial work environment that values collaboration inclusion and trust. This is a fulltime benefited 12month position on the USULogan campus.

Responsibilities

Direct clinical services 5060 May be adjusted based on other duties (e.g. training/supervision)

  • Provide individual and group therapy singlesession therapy initial triage consultation intake and crisis interventions.

Outreach services 1015

  • Provide outreach to students and campus community to help improve their access to services.
  • Prepare for and provide outreach presentations and workshops.
  • Serve on departmental division and university committees.
  • Provide consultations for USU faculty staff and students.

Training services 5

  • May provide supervision to trainees (if licensing requirements are met).
  • Participate in other training activities as assigned (e.g. teaching onetime seminar running group clinical consultation fir trainees)

Other professional responsibilities 2030

  • Maintain timely and accurate record.
  • Serve as oncall for 12 weeks/year (the afterhour calls first go to an external call center. CAPS oncall is a backup support to the external team).
  • Practices all responsibilities in accordance with ethical and professional standards and state laws.
  • Understands and comply with CAPS and university policies and procedures.
  • Effectively participates in administrative and professional activities (e.g. staff and division meetings case conferences peer consultations professional development etc..
  • Foster excellent working relationships with coworkers increase knowledge and develop new skills or abilities that contribute to effective service provision contribute to the evaluation and improvement of CAPS and all other duties as assigned.
  • Prepares for sessions and maintain accurate and uptodate records of clinical services.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree from an APAaccredited clinical counseling or combined psychology program. (The defense date must be scheduled prior to application).
  • Ability to be licensed as Psychology Resident (Clinician II in HRIS system) or Licensed Psychologist (Psychologist in HRIS system) in State of Utah by the start date.
  • Experience in a university counseling setting and/or experience in areas strongly related to mental health needs of a college population (e.g. eating disorders anxiety disorder depressive disorders personality disorders).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed as Psychologist and meet the requirement for being a qualified supervisor (i.e. minimum of 2 years licensed as Psychologist).
  • Experience working at USU CAPS.
  • Experience in providing training and supervision.
  • Experience in providing group therapy.
  • Experience with and interest in psychoeducational assessment.
  • Fluency in language other than English.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Generalist base of knowledge and experience in psychotherapy (including teletherapy) (i.e. theories processes and elements of therapeutic change) and familiarity with developmental and other nonmedical models of treatment and supervision.
  • Awareness of and respect for cultural individual and role differences including those based on age gender gender identity race ethnicity culture national origin religion sexual orientation disability language and socioeconomic status and an ability to consider these factors when working with members of such groups. (Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct; American Psychological Associations)
  • Crisis intervention and suicide risk management skills
  • Clinical skills and experience with shortterm therapy approaches.
  • Basic computer skills (Word Outlook Titanium Zoom etc.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal organizational problem solving and decisionmaking skills as well as a commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth.

Advertised Salary
