Job Description

Sask DLC requires a Grade 11 Science Teacher with a start date of April 15 2025 or earlier based on the availability of the applicant. This temporary contract will conclude June 27 2025. The assignment includes Health Science 20 and Environmental Science 20. The campus location will be determined by the principal residence of the successful candidate.

Sask DLC is a Treasury Board Crown Corporation created to deliver highquality and equitable online learning programs to students across the province. Sask DLCs head office is located in Kenaston with an administrative office in Regina and regional campuses located in Estevan Kenaston La Ronge Moose Jaw Neilburg Nipawin Prince Albert Regina Saskatoon Swift Current and Yorkton.

Sask DLC online teachers deliver highquality instruction and assessment for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 courses. This position involves the delivery of Saskatchewan Grade 11 Science curricula through asynchronous or synchronous learning models as well as Mathematics (may be Foundations Calculus or Workplace and Apprenticeship based on experience). Online teachers possess a strong understanding of digital platforms such as Moodle and Microsoft Teams and are committed to fostering an inclusive and engaging online learning environment. The online teacher will also collaborate with colleagues support staff and administration to plan track student progress communicate with parents and integrate First Nations and Mtis perspectives into curriculum delivery.

Primary Responsibilities:

Academics

Curriculum and Planning:

Sask DLC uses a centralized model for course development. Content can be configured for students aligned with the adaptive dimension.

Provide highquality asynchronous or synchronous program delivery to students in Grade 11 using the centralized course content aligned with the Saskatchewan curriculum engaging lessons and activities formative and summative assessment and meaningful resources.

Integrate First Nation and Mtis content world views ways of knowing and culture within curricula outcomes and program delivery.

Ensure students identify and understand the learning outcomes in lessons and/or assignments.

Instruction and Assessment

Teach engaging and effective online lessons activities and assignments tailored to individual student needs and using the adaptive dimension where applicable.

Implement instructional strategies that promote student engagement learning and critical thinking.

Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments.

Prepare and provide detailed progress reports to parents and guardians highlighting student achievement and areas for improvement.

Maintain accurate and uptodate student performance or achievement records.

Leadership

Utilize Moodle Microsoft Teams and other approved Sask DLC software to manage course content deliver lessons and communicate with students and colleagues.

Troubleshoot basic technical issues and provide support to students and parents as needed.

Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends technology and best practices.

Collaborate with peers to improve instructional methods and contribute to professional learning networks. Work collaboratively with colleagues in learning teams to plan develop and refine curriculum and teaching strategies.

Share resources ideas and strategies to enhance the overall effectiveness of the online program.

Culture

Classroom

Establish clear expectations for online learning and behavior ensuring students remain engaged respectful and productive in the virtual classroom.

Monitor and support student participation and engagement in the online learning environment.

Address disruption to the learning environment in a respectful confidential and concise manner.

Outside Classroom

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress concerns and next steps for learning.

Respond promptly to inquiries and foster a positive and supportive relationship with families.

Foster an inclusive respectful and culturally responsive learning environment for all students.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.

Ability to multitask prioritize and meet deadlines.

Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.

Proficiency in using digital platforms for teaching and communication.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Ability to manage a virtual classroom effectively maintaining student engagement and fostering a positive learning environment.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective teaching practices.

Knowledge and experience integrating Indigenous content perspectives and cultural practices into the curriculum.

Familiarity with assessment tools and strategies for online learning.

Ability to build positive relationships with students families and colleagues in a remote context.

Passion for fostering inclusive culturally relevant learning experiences for all students.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. or equivalent teaching certification in Saskatchewan.

Valid Saskatchewan teaching certificate with Saskatchewan Professional Teachers Regulatory Board (SPTRB) and membership with the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation (STF).
