Job Description
Summary:
The Creative Arts Day CampInstructor performs an array of responsibilities essential to the successfuldelivery of the program in support of its mission and primary educationalfunction. The camp which is held by theDepartment of Art Education in multiple different sessions over the summerprovides opportunities for grade K9 students to explore a variety of media.
Multiple opportunities areavailable through this recruitment process. Those with knowledge skills and/orabilities that align with the needs of the program and the requiredqualifications will be contacted for an interview. All instructors will berequired to complete a background check and applicable training specific toworking with minors in a university setting.
Duties may include but not limited to:
Provide instruction forprogram participants
Teach a session toprovide students with experience in a variety of media including sculpturedigital media printmaking painting drawing bookmaking fibers and more.
Ensure quality andeffectiveness of the Creative Arts Day Camp
Ensure compliance withprogram policies and procedures at all times
Other duties as assignedby the Program Director
Minimum Qualifications
Recent graduate and/orundergraduate art education student
Appropriate teachingexperience and/or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
Demonstrated experienceworking in and fostering anenvironment of respect professionalism and civility with a population offaculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
