Position Overview

The Computer Support Specialist functions under the general guidance and supervision of the Information Technology Manager. The incumbents primary responsibility is to carry out desktop and phone support duties related to computer technologies for the Information Technology Office of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma.

Essential Functions

  1. Serves as a desktop support technician to the Information Technology Office of the Pawnee Nation.
  2. Aids advice problem solving and technical information to internal customers regarding the use of software applications.
  3. Develops and executes a routine maintenance schedule which will include operating systems application software printers and Personal Computer (PC) systems within the Pawnee Nation.
  4. Installs newly acquired pc equipment/systems (including software) and assure maximum benefit from managing these systems properly.
  5. Installs and maintains network technology when it is required.
  6. Maintains inventory and management of pc equipment maintenance agreements and software licenses.
  7. Develops and maintains a work log and assists supervisor with quotes and purchases.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned and within the scope of the position.

Qualifications

Educational

Requirements

Minimum: High School diploma or GED; Supplemental higher education coursework towards certifications in the area of Computer Science Information Systems Business Administration or related field.

Preferred: Associates Degree in Computer Science Information Systems Business Administration or related field

Experience

Requirements

Minimum: One 1 year of directly related work experience.

Preferred: Three 3 years of directly related work experience.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Computer:

  1. Proficiency in Office 365 Microsoft applications including Word Excel Outlook Power Point Internet Explorer Teams Yammer etc.
  2. Proficiency in information system terminology concepts functions applications policies and procedures.
  3. Proficiency in the proper use and operation of standard office equipment (fax copier telephone etc. and information systems equipment.
  4. Ability to stay informed of current enduser hardware and software products.
  5. Ability to continually learn and utilize highly specialized software applications.

Communication:

  1. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers supervisors external vendors and other concerned parties.
  3. Ability to foster team effort and cooperation with coworkers and supervisors.
  4. Skilled in the use of business communications (proper spelling/grammar).
  5. Skilled in the use of business arithmetic (accounting etc..

Miscellaneous:

  1. Ability to pass a background screening.
  2. Must possess the ability to interpret and follow applicable federal state and local laws regulations and requirements.
  3. Must demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize assigned tasks.
  4. Must possess the ability to learn and apply appropriate procedures within assigned areas of specialization.
  5. Must demonstrate knowledge of modern office methods practices and procedures.
  6. Must possess the ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  7. Must possess the ability to effectively conduct research analyze information and interpret data.
  8. Must maintain confidentiality.
  9. Must work independently.
  10. Must have a valid Oklahoma drivers license and be insurable with Pawnee Nations insurance carrier.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; and walk. The employee occasionally is required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Evening and/or weekend work is often required. Occasions may arise requiring work outdoors where exposure to natural weather conditions may occur. There is regular interaction with the public other agencies and employees. Tight time constraints and multiple demands from several people are common. Travel may be required for training meetings conferences presentations and other events.
