Job Title: Sales/Estimating Manager
Salary:
Purpose of the Job:
The Sales/Estimating Manager is responsible for securing orders and managing the sales and estimating functions of the business. The role includes obtaining highquality enquiries ensuring full production load developing business strategies and overseeing the estimating team. The position involves close collaboration with directors and other departments to drive business growth and maintain operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales Management:
Manage and structure sales activities to obtain suitable enquiries and orders.
Coordinate advertising efforts in line with budgets.
Compile monthly projections and report on orders achieved.
Collaborate with the Contracts team to follow up sales leads when required.
2. Estimating Management:
Ensure the timely and competitive submission of tenders.
Identify competitive advantages within tenders and review pricing strategies.
Organise subcontract enquiries and tender submissions.
Maintain systems for tender followup and liaise with manufacturing/procurement teams to meet order targets.
3. Team Leadership and HR Processes:
Supervise the estimating team including a Senior Estimator who oversees daytoday activities.
Provide appropriate training for junior staff to develop estimating skills.
Manage internal HR processes for the department.
4. CrossDepartment Collaboration:
Work with the Contracts team to evaluate pricing approaches for enquiries sourced through their network.
Ensure that all contracts managed by the job holder are aligned with company policies and production goals.
5. Contract Management (as required):
Take responsibility for selected contracts ensuring that sales and estimating operations remain unaffected.
Keep the Commercial Manager informed of contract developments to address issues proactively.
6. System and Policy Management:
Maintain and adhere to internal systems such as estimating software production targets and financial recovery processes.
Follow all company standing instructions and policies.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Demonstrated experience in sales and estimating within a business development role.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams.
Proven track record of tender management and business strategy .
Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
Additional Information:
This position requires membership of the management council supporting other team members and aligning with the strategic goals set by the directors. Flexibility may be required to perform tasks beyond the outlined responsibilities to meet business needs.
