The Opportunity

The Project Officer will provide support through all phases of the project and support our Healthcare Redevelopment infrastructure team. The Project Officer will report directly to the Project Manager and be responsible for a variety of project specific duties.

What youll do

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Project Managers through all phases of a projects development and implementation by providing general updates on project status scheduling project management office functions etc.
  • Preparing for and attending various Project meetings including Management meetings to provide general updates on project status scheduling project management etc.
  • Coordinating the training and implementation of new project management tools such as new forms templates and software such as BIM 360 EBuilder and Procore.
  • Assisting the project teams in developing reviewing analyzing and reporting on project schedules and cost.
  • Reviewing and monitoring the Construction Managers Quality Process.
  • Monitoring Construction Managers Risk Management Process.
  • Assisting Project Managers in development and maintenance of risk analysis and contingency planning.
  • Assisting with Financial Reporting and tracking activities.
  • Coordinating the issuance of tender packages with the Construction Manager Project team and Procurement team.
  • Creating summary documents and presentations by collecting and consolidating technical information into easytounderstand pictographic presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Meeting scheduling note taking and other general office tasks as required.

What youll need

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education (degree or diploma) in construction engineering architecture or contract administration. Graduatelevel education in engineering or architecture is an asset. A Project Management (i.e. PMI PMP) designation would be an asset.
  • Previous working experience/exposure with the construction or healthcare industry would be a significant asset.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of dealing with project budgets schedules and technical requirements. Preference may be given to candidates with an understanding of PM software and SAP.
  • Must have sound stakeholder management skills the ability to adapt quickly and respond to a changing environment and experience finding positive solutions to issues with clients and diverse teams of project consultants and specialists. Presentation consultation negotiation influencing and consensus building skills are also desired.
  • Experience negotiating claims scope changes and other compliance and contractual items on projects is desirable.

Build Nova Scotia Healthcare Infrastructure Division is committed to delivering an extensive multisite multiyear infrastructure Redevelopment Plan designed to ensure the health care needs of Nova Scotians are met for the next 50 years.

The redevelopment plan includes major expansions and additions to hospitals and health services in communities across the Province including throughout the Halifax and Cape Breton Regional Municipalities. Successful project delivery will allow services to be moved out of the aging facilities such as the Centennial Victoria and Dickson buildings on the Victoria General (VG) site of the QEII.

Master planning for the redevelopment program is focused on modernizing the health care system to ensure the needs of Nova Scotians remain at the heart of our delivery of bestinclass services. Together the redevelopment projects will help support the health care of all Nova Scotians today and for future generations.
