The Opportunity:
The Student Success & Engagement Specialist is responsible for supporting students who face academic behavioral or personal challenges by providing mentorship socialemotional support and engagement opportunities. This position focuses on fostering a positive school environment where all students feel valued supported and motivated to succeed. The Specialist collaborates with educators families and community partners to remove barriers to learning implement student support initiatives and encourage active participation in school and career pathway.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Engagement & Support:- Build relationships with students to promote a sense of belonging and encourage active participation in school.
- Provide oneonone and group support to students struggling with motivation attendance or engagement in school activities.
- Develop strategies to help students set academic and personal goals build resilience and navigate challenges.
- Implement and support restorative practices to improve student behavior and conflict resolution skills.
- Assist students in developing selfadvocacy communication and decisionmaking skills.
SocialEmotional Learning & WellBeing:
- Support the development and implementation of SEL programs and activities that enhance emotional intelligence stress management and relationshipbuilding skills.
- Identify students in need of additional socialemotional support and connect them with appropriate school or community resources.
- Promote a positive school culture through initiatives that encourage inclusion respect and student voice.
Academic & Career Readiness Support:
- Help students identify their strengths and interests to guide them in exploring career pathways and postsecondary opportunities.
- Assist students with goalsetting study skills and time management to support their academic progress.
- Connect students with internship workbased learning and leadership opportunities to enhance their engagement and skill development.
- Collaborate with school staff to support students transitioning back to school after extended absences or behavioral interventions.
Family & Community Engagement:
- Serve as a liaison between students families and school staff to ensure clear communication and coordinated support.
- Organize workshops events and programs that encourage family involvement in student success.
- Build relationships with community organizations and businesses to provide additional resources and opportunities for students.
Data Reporting & Compliance:
- Monitor student progress and maintain records of engagement efforts interventions and outcomes.
- Use datadriven approaches to assess program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
- Stay informed on best practices in student engagement SEL and academic success strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in education counseling social work psychology or a related field (Masters preferred).
- Experience working with students in an educational or youth development setting.
- Strong understanding of student engagement strategies SEL frameworks and restorative practices.
- Excellent communication relationshipbuilding and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators families and community partners.
- Passion for creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Work Environment:
- Schoolbased setting with direct interaction with students families and staff.
- Flexible hours may be required for afterschool programs family meetings or special events.
- Some local travel may be needed to engage with community organizations and resources.
