Were looking for an E&M Multiskilled craftsperson with an Electrical bias to join our Engineering and Maintenance team in Glasgow and west to help keep our operational sites running smoothly.
This team installs maintains and repair the critical infrastructure that deliver 1 billion litres of drinking water and remove 940 million litres of waste water from Scottish homes businesses and industry. Everyday.
What Youll Do
Youll be working with our wider E&M team to deliver a proactive service to make sure that the plant and equipment we use at our Water and Waste Water sites is safe and working effectively.
Youll use your core Electrical skills as well as your mechanical knowledge to problem solve technical issues thinking outside of the box to fault find and diagnose. Youll be working in a timesensitive environment often in confined spaces.
Expect to be working on a range of different equipment that include 3phase and single phase equipment maintenance to motors motor starters generators actuators level monitoring equipment variable speed drives parameter setting and adjustment instrumentation calibration of process controllers and resetting of automation equipment.
On the electrical front you can expect to do some general maintenance of pumps valves gearboxes pipe fitting and assisting mechanical craftsperson for multiple person tasks.
Your safety is paramount. It is essential that you take all necessary steps to protect yourself and others including risk assessments choosing appropriate equipment keep up to date with essential training and following safe working practices.
Youll work closely with our office support team to plan and coordinate resources across the region with the shared goal of delivering an effective and costefficient response to incidents reactive or planned work whilst looking for innovative ways to continually drive improvements.
What Youll Need
Youll have served a full apprenticeship and have an HNC or NC in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (or the equivalent experience)
This is a fieldbased role and involves a fair amount of lone working. That means you need a full GBissued Driving License (DVLA) to reach our sites. Most of them arent accessible by public transport.
Youll need to be happy to work on a standby rota (youll be paid an additional standby retainer to compensate you for this)
In this role youll be communicating with internal and external customers about work being carried outon site giving progress reports and keeping people up to date. So its important that youre confident friendly and pride yourself on providing a great service.
Youll be comfortable using computer systems and online learning modules to get up to speed quickly.
And it goes without saying youll need an ironclad commitment to Health & Safety to protect yourself your colleagues and the public.

The notsosmall print
This role will be a Grade 6. If youre new to Scottish Water youll join us on a starting salary of 33560. Performancedriven pay progression will then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of 44140. Youll also receive a monthly standby retainer payment.
Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional and will be confirmed on completion of our preemployment screening e.g. referencing criminal record checks license checks etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Dont worry well ask your permission before starting these checks.
