Job Summary:
The Psychology Program at West Texas A&M University (part of the Texas A&M University System) invites applications for a fulltime tenuretrack Assistant Professor position beginning as early as Fall 2025.
Applicants must be able to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate psychology courses which may include research methodology learning (animal & human) quantitative statistics sensation/perception or philosophy/history of science. We are seeking an experimental psychologist whose teaching and research interests complement a relatively small 7 but very active psychology faculty. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate teaching excellence in the classroom or other instructional settings and will contribute to instructional activities that include curriculum development. Applicants will be favored who have a demonstrated record of research productivity and have a plan for developing and maintaining a substantive research program that would involve undergraduate and graduate students. A dedicated psychology lab and an array of lab equipment are available to support research and student training. The teaching load is 3/3; additional responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate & graduate student research supervising masters theses and student advising. Applicants who are ABD will be considered for the position; however the successful candidate is expected to have a PhD from a recognized program by the time of appointment. Work Performed:
For Fall and Spring semesters the teaching load is 3/3; additional responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate & graduate research supervising masters theses and student advising. Typically teaching in a summer session is also available which enhances annual salary.
Necessary Qualifications:
PhD from a recognized psychology program that would qualify the candidate to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in quantitative methods including research methodology and statistics as well as other core courses such as learning (animal & human) sensation/perception or philosophy/history of science. Applicants who are ABD will be considered for the position; however the successful candidate is expected to have a PhD by the time of appointment.
