Reporting to:

Manager of Procurement

Description:

  • Promote the most effective use of Board funds in the acquisition of goods and services.
  • Responsible for the purchasing of designated supplies equipment and services and providing information regarding existing laws regulations taxes and customs in a timely costefficient and effective manner using current procurement methods and in compliance with Board policies and procedures as well as Broader Public Sector Procurement Directives.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Support the streamlining of procurement activities related to the acquisition of goods and services required by internal clients.
  • Market research and analysis for uptodate market trends prices and supplier innovations to make informed purchasing recommendations to reduce costs.
  • Prepares and issues RFPs RFQs and Tenders on behalf of internal clients.
  • Administer Board contracts on designated supplies equipment and services to ensure compliance. Monitor reports from vendors to measure performance in order to ensure minimal risk and exposure.
  • Provide a high level of customer service in the procurement of goods and services for all schools and departments in accordance with the Boards policies and procedures
  • Review and process purchase requisitions issued by internal clients while ensuring policy compliance in the Boards financial system.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements
  • Prepare reports and analysis as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or degree in a businessrelated field
  • 3 to 5 years experience in complex organization/business in public procurement with demonstrated knowledge of purchasing principles practices and techniques and knowledge of relevant legislation regulations and acts and competitive bidding processes
  • Excellent communication skills organizational ability as well as the ability to work as a team.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite Programs Sparkrock 365 and other software applications will be required.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Drivers license and have access to own vehicle.
  • Completion of the Principles of Effective Public Purchasing Certificate Program through Ontario Public Buyers Association or working towards.
  • CPPB (Certified Professional Public Buyer) an asset
  • A general knowledge of purchasing principles practices and techniques and knowledge of relevant legislation regulations and acts and competitive bidding processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent math skills
