You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Department of Emergency Medicine at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center seeksan emergency physician to join our faculty as Director of the Operational and Disaster Medicine Division and Fellowship. Our academic tertiary care level I adult and childrens trauma centers serve over 100000 patients per year. The Operational and Disaster Medicine Division and Fellowship team work closely with the US Marshals Service the Drug Enforcement Administration (providing medical direction and lead trainers) the US Army Special Operations Command Team Rubicon and a variety of local and regional disaster response/ emergency management agencies. The team has an increasing focus on building resilience and improving response to the global climate crisis.

The candidate will become a fulltime faculty member with an appointment at the Assistant Professor Associate Professor or Professor level without tenure at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Academic rank at the time of the appointment is commensurate with the candidates experience and qualifications.
Faculty educators in our department mentor and teach a diverse group of learners in emergency medicine pediatrics various emergency medicine fellowship training programs medical students from the Wake Forest School of Medicine as well as international trainees from our global health partner sites. Faculty members also engage inservice to the department and community to promote the health and wellbeing of our patients.
Faculty members serve as physician leaders of a multidisciplinary emergency care team including nurses respiratory therapists clinical pharmacists child life specialists and social workers in the Emergency Department.
Anticipated start date is July of 2025.

Physical Requirements
Work requires walking standing sitting lifting reaching bending stooping pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients medical equipment and supplies. Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms. Must possess intact sense of sight hearing smell touch and finger dexterity. Must have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations. Schedule consisting of a mixed rotation of shifts covering weekdays nights swing holidays and weekends greater than 400 hours of weekend and/or night coverage .
