What We Are Looking For:

Aird & Berlis is looking for a clerk with corporate experience to fill a unique and rewarding role within our Tax department. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a corporate background to gain exposure to the tax group while being mentored by seasoned tax clerks. Proficiency in Corplink or a similar corporate database is key for this role. The ideal candidate will be highly organized eager to learn and ready to grow within the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Key maintenance tasks and filings including preparation of report books and maintaining/updating corporation records registers and ledgers
  • Draft documents to implement incorporations amendments amalgamations continuances annual proceedings dividends redemptions dissolutions extraprovincial registrations limited partnerships and business names
  • Update Minute Books and corporate database
  • Conduct corporate searches and analyze filings
  • Liaise with clients lawyers and law clerks as needed
  • Maintain corporate information in CorpLink database
  • Assist processing corporate documents utilizing eCore
  • Produce the highest quality of work
  • Accountable for all work assigned
  • Take initiative attention to detail multitasking
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Docketing

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a Corporate or Tax Law Clerk
  • Successful completion of a related postsecondary education program in a legal assistant or law clerk program
  • ILCO certification
  • Knowledge of Federal and Provincial corporate statutes and corporate procedures
  • Knowledge of CorpLink or similar corporate database
