The Dean of Students plays a critical role in promoting the educational and social wellbeing of every student by overseeing all student discipline and behavior management programs on campus. Reporting directly to the Principal the Dean provides supervisory leadership and fosters a unified vision that integrates team member development performance management and succession planning. This role is responsible for designing and implementing proactive equitable strategies for managing student behavior collaborating closely with teachers counselors and parents to address disciplinary issues effectively. The Dean of Students ensures that all practices not only uphold school standards but also contribute to a positive safe learning environment. A flexible schedule is required to meet the needs of the school community.

I. Student Discipline & Behavior Management
Handles behavioral issues maintains discipline records and communicates with parents regarding student conduct.
Represents the campus in disciplinary hearings.
Implements and enforces schoolwide behavioral expectations in collaboration with teachers and staff.
Ensures accurate documentation of discipline incidents and assists with compliance and reporting tasks.
Manages daily discipline incidents while the Principal oversees discipline policies and escalation processes.
II. Student Attendance & Support Programs
Monitors and addresses student attendance issues to improve engagement and reduce chronic absenteeism.
Sends attendance notifications to parents and meets with families of students with attendance concerns.
Partners with local community organizations to provide comprehensive parent education and support initiatives focused on improving student attendance.
III. Teacher Support & Professional Development
Assists in onboarding new teachers and ensures adherence to instructional best practices.
Conducts regular classroom observations and provides constructive feedback for instructional improvement.
Supports new teachers with mentorship and professional development resources.
Develops and implements training programs for noninstructional support staff including lunch and recess monitors.
VI. Student & Parent Support
Addresses parent concerns and serves as a liaison between families and the school.
Oversees and supports the daily operations of tutoring programs on campus.
Oversees the implementation of 504 plans ensuring accommodations are met and compliance with federal regulations.
Serves as the McKinneyVento Coordinator supporting homeless and displaced students by connecting them with necessary resources.
VII. Title IX Compliance and Coordination
Supports school compliance with Title IX regulations related to discrimination and harassment.
Investigates Title IX complaints and ensures appropriate interventions.
Provides training to staff on Title IX policies and reporting procedures.
Dean of Students must have a high level of interpersonal skills in order to handle sensitive and confidential situations. This position requires demonstrated poise tact and diplomacy. Dean of Students must work effectively and relate well with others including superiors colleagues and individuals inside and outside of the district. Dean of Students must act in a professional manner in dealing with others and they must work to maintain constructive working relationships. They must also have the ability to represent the school and district effectively in a variety of settings with diverse communities. Dean of Students must also have the ability to demonstrate understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures. This position also requires:
An indepth knowledge of school discipline policies and code of conduct.
Subject matter expertise within the educational community on student discipline and behavior management strategies.
Demonstrated program development and implementation skills.
The planning of the work of others and the coordination of work with other departments or external agencies.
The ability to read write analyze and interpret policies procedures and regulations.
The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students parents community members faculty staff media supervisors managers and directors.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.
The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule forms.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop staff.
The ability to complete work in a timely accurate and thorough manner showing conscientiousness about assignments (leads by example).
A flexible schedule in order to work hours necessary to fulfill job requirements.
The ability to build consensus that permeates the entire staff through the development and implementation of a professional learning community.
Education Licensure or Certification
Masters Degree in Education is preferred.
Work Experience or Related Experience
Preferred three or more years of teaching experience in a variety of grade levels.
The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check
Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times
Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
This position may require sitting for long periods at times talking on the phone standing kneeling stooping and long periods of concentration.
Local and instate travel required.
