Job Description

TITLE: TEACHER

DEPARTMENT: School

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate for grade level and subject.
  2. Bachelors Degree (or higher) from accredited college or university.
  3. Must possess a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  4. Appropriate hours to teach the associated subject matter in accordance with state federal and district policy regulations and statutes.

JOB GOAL:

The Teacher is responsible for helping students learn the appropriate subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their growth and development as productive citizens.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following tasks are essential for this position. This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks or may perform similar related tasks not listed.

  1. Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
  2. Develops positive relations with students parents school staff and the public.
  3. Works with the Instructional Coach to maintain best practices in providing high quality instruction based on AZ state standards.
  4. Attends and engages in professional learning communities and organizational meetings.
  5. Develops lesson plans and proficiently delivers prescribed curriculum using available digital teaching methods through a distance learning educational model.
  6. Manages student behavior through the effective use of classroom management techniques.
  7. Creates organizes and retains appropriate lesson plans.
  8. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting their curriculum objectives as put forward by Arizonas High Academic Standards for Students.
  9. Creates a physical and psychological environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students.
  10. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishes desired student performance objectives for all lessons units and projects and to communicate these objectives to students.
  11. Assesses the student performance objectives on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  12. Screens students for learning deficiencies provides intervention as needed utilizing specialized resources within the district and keeps track of data in order to initiate further evaluation where needed.
  13. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules administrative regulations and Governing Board policies.
  14. Facilitates ongoing communication between parents/guardians and school administration.
  15. Provides direction to supporting Paraprofessionals as applicable.
  16. Maintains accurate permanent academic and class attendance records of students.
  17. Supports and implements district goals as set by the Governing Board.
  18. Accomplishes all assigned duties in a professional manner.
  19. Performs other related duties as directed by the Principal/Assistant Principal.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of:

  1. District policies operations and organization.
  2. Interpersonal skills including tact courtesy and diplomacy.
  3. Communication (telephone email etc. etiquette.
  4. Educational theories and practices.
  5. Federal and state laws rules and regulations governing education.
  6. Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA.
  7. District curricula assessment and instructional programs.
  8. Promoting positive public relations.
  9. Technology in the educational context.
  10. Crisis management procedures.

Skill and Ability to:

  1. Work cooperatively with others.
  2. Demonstrate effective instructional skills.
  3. Demonstrate effective classroom management techniques.
  4. Utilize engaging and encouraging communication skills while interacting with supervisors staff students etc. to exchange information.
  5. Seek innovative ways to support best student learning.
  6. Read analyze and interpret written documents including education research.
  7. Analyze and organize student achievement data.
  8. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  9. Apply principles of reason and logic for problemsolving purposes.
  10. Provide excellent customer service.
  11. Interpret and analyze assessment data.
  12. Utilize computer applications.

  1. Regularly required to talk or listen.
  2. Frequently is required to stand sit or walk for extended periods of time.
  3. Occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
  4. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  5. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principal/Assistant Principal in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy in evaluation of certified personnel.

TERMS OF

EMPLOYMENT:10Months

SALARY: Salary for the position is set according to the Certified Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.
