Job Description:

As a Manufacturing Engineer at L3Harris Technologies you will play a key role in developing evaluating and improving manufacturing processes in a highstakes defensefocused production environment. You will collaborate with crossfunctional teams including Design Engineering Quality Project Management and Manufacturing Operations to enhance manufacturing efficiencies ensure product quality and support our commitment to delivering reliable and innovative defense solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare manufacturing estimates including mechanical/ electrical inspection mechanical/ electrical assembly electrical and functional test manufacturing support and quality process support costs.
  • Review design layouts and engineering drawings; make recommendations for changes or modifications to facilitate manufacturing of assembly operations and reduction of defects.
  • Develop and maintain specific work instructions and procedures including photos visual aids to support manufacturing of product that conforms to drawing requirements and design specifications.
  • Prepare operations sheets and assembly/manufacturing instructions showing sequence of operations details of each operation machine tooling and fixturing to be used inspection instructions and test requirements.
  • Must be able to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and apply Lean Green/Black Belt techniques such as DMAIC FMEA Standard Work and Value Stream Mapping etc.
  • Monitor assembly/electronic/manufacturing instruction sheets and operations sheets to continuously improve the efficiency of the Operations Dept. Support Operations Managers with labor and cost analysis.
  • Develop design tooling fixtures test equipment to support programs (Creo). Initiate requisitions for special tools fixtures and equipment; assist Purchasing in specifications and procurement of tools and fixtures. Work to simplify tool design.
  • Support transition of new programs from design and development to production (New Product Introduction Production Readiness).
  • Incorporate engineering change orders advanced engineering change orders notices of revision and approved engineering change proposals in operations sheets and assembly instructions.
  • Build and maintain a role in supporting cross functional internal and external teams with Engineering Operations Program Management Office and The Customer as required.
  • Monitor material nonconformance activity and develop corrective/preventative action plans as required.
  • Prepare production status reports and other reports or information as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualification Requirements:

Bachelors Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. A degree in Manufacturing Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related field strongly preferred. In lieu of a degree minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

  • United States Citizenship required with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Experience in a manufacturing engineering role preferably in a defense or aerospace environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and experience designing tooling and fixtures.
  • Strong understanding of industry regulations including ITAR ISO and MILSTD.
  • Excellent problemsolving communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (e.g. Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing systems (MES).
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of defense industryspecific requirements and standards.
  • Active Security Clearance
