Job Description
The CAD Automation Specialist is responsible for streamlining the engineering design process by automating repetitive tasks and improving efficiency. This role focuses on developing and maintaining DriveWorks configurators SolidWorks templates and custom macros to support the engineering team. Additional responsibilities include managing project data generating BOMs and coordinating improvements with internal teams and external customers.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of automation and process optimization along with some coding experienceparticularly with Visual Basic for SolidWorks macros. While coding is a part of the role the primary focus is on applying automation tools and CAD expertise to enhance design efficiency.

$42.000 $45000 per year
Bonus eligible up to 15 quarterly

Qualifications
- Minimum Associates in CAD or related field
- Proficient with SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Some programming experience beneficial especially with SQL JavaScript Typescript Python or other scripting language(s)
- Experience with ERP software especially in a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
Primary responsibilities
- Create and maintain configurators using DriveWorks automation software
- Create and maintain SolidWorks assembly and drawing templates
- Create and maintain SolidWorks macros (visual basic)
- Engage functional teammates to understand their processes identify opportunities to automate to improve efficiency and lead the implementation
- Enter access and retrieve data from company information system
- Interpret data from architectural plans to design custom products using SolidWorks
- Generate BOM to release final design to manufacturing/production
- Communicate with internal and external customers on projects
- Coordinate with and consult other teammates on design layout and components to analyze design problems and advise appropriate course of action
- Evaluate feasibility of design ideas based on factors such as appearance safety function serviceability and production costs/methods
