CDOT for All

• Typical work schedule Monday Friday 7:00 am to 2:30 pm
• Exerts in excess of 100 lbs. of forceoccasionally and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force regularly to move objects
• Exposure to hot cold wet humid or windy conditions caused by the weather
• Exposure to nonweather related and cold temperatures
• Exposure to nonweather related humid conditions
• Exposure to conditions such as fumes noxious odors dusts mists and gasses that may affect breathing eyes and skin
• May work in high exposed places
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals
• May be required to operate CDOT vehicles on occasion.

• A combination of related education formalized apprenticeship program and / or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to four 4 years. Documentation of this must be submitted with your application.

• Must pass a preemployment screening which may include social security number trace criminal records check public court records check educational records and driving records checks. More information in the supplemental information section.
• A current valid drivers license is required for all Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) positions which require operating a state or personal motor vehicle to perform one or more essential functions of the position.
• May be required to work overtime including weekends and holidays.
• May be required to live within thirty 30 minutes driving time in normal weather conditions to be able to respond in a timely manner after notified to report to work. Knowledge of an emergency or hazardous condition may be considered to be notification to report to work station.
• Must provide the supervisor with a telephone number where you can be reached for the purposes of responding to an emergency.
• New employees are required to attend two weeks of maintenance training in Aurora while veteran CDOT employees are required to attend training one week out of each year in Aurora.

• Demonstrated success with the duties as listed in the Description of the Job section;
• Years of State service experience related to the duties of this position;
• Demonstrated experience in scheduling and planning daily work activities for subordinates;
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Emergency Response Guidelines Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and supplement to set traffic control for road projects through different terrain Colorados Chain Law Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulation Colorado Commercial Drivers License Manual MLOS standards M & S Standards and CDOT Policies and Procedures;
• Extensive experiencesafely and effectively operating and training others on several types of heavy equipment such as front end loaders tandem trucks backhoes;
• Extensive experienceeffectively using several types of hand tools;
• Extensive experience performing physically demanding work assignments;
• Strong positive and cando attitude;
• Strong commitment to safety;
• Strong oral and written communication;
• Ability to effectively communicate with CDOT staff and others sometimes in safety situations where quick communication is essential;
