Duties and Responsibilities
(NOTE:**denotes Essential Functions)
- **Support the mission of the campus Mental Health & Wellness Program in providing the highest quality accessible and culturally competent mental health services & wellness services to enhance students socialemotional wellbeing and success in achieving both academic and life goals.
- **Provide scheduled direct facetoface or online specialized shortterm focused goaloriented psychotherapeutic services to students in individual or group settings who have a wide range of psychiatric and psychosocial behavioral problems.
- **Implement appropriate techniques to assist students to support individualized goals and outcomes e.g. reducing distress and increasing coping skills which enhance academic performance and build selfefficacy and support in their natural environment.
- **Document clinical interventions and maintain program forms clinical charts program evaluation and data collection as required by the program and their licensed profession.
- Participate actively on the colleges Title IX program.
- Serve on the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) acting as the mental health subject matter expert for individual cases.
- **Provide clinical consultation and technical assistance to other staff and employees regarding the specialized needs of students; and identifying and implementing improved methods policies procedures standards and interventions including problem solving for difficult and complex cases.
- Train and oversee student workers peer mentors interns and practicum students as appropriate.
- Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team with program staff administration instructors and other colleagues.
- Practice with a commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice as well as personal and professional integrity.
- Maintain a State of Hawaii license for their appropriate profession and act in a manner consistent with the code of ethics of their licensed profession and State of Hawaii statutes.
- Provide services during daytime and possibly some evening or weekend hours. Ability to travel to neighborisland campuses as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Professional Work Experience:
- Possession of a Masters Degree in Social Work Counseling Psychology or a related field ANDthree 3 years of progressive responsible professional experience with responsibilities for Licensed Clinical Social Work Mental Health Counselor Marriage and Family Therapist or Psychologist; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience that provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
- Current State of Hawaii License as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Mental Health Counselor or Marriage and Family Therapy
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of Mental Health Counseling as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with Mental Health Counseling.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer apply word processing software and Microsoft Word Excel Adobe Acrobat and other commonly used software.
- Demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.
Supplemental Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze interpret and use sound logic and judgment when applying administrative policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to produce work that is detailoriented accurate neat and organized and must be able to follow up on assigned tasks through satisfactory completion
Desirable Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree in Psychology or Educational Psychology from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or in Clinical Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) approved program in Clinical Psychology and a current State of Hawaii License as a Psychologist.
- Demonstrated ability to intervene in crisis situations using sound professional judgment and ethical practice.
- Ability to work successfully in an environment with a wide range of personalities and needs while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Familiarity and experience with UH policies and procedures
- Display strong organizational skills for handling cases
- Demonstrated understanding of issues related to Native Hawaiians and other indigenous populations.
