Small Steps is a livein supported accommodation parenting and lifeskills program for young mums aged 1525. The program allows the mums to focus on growing their parenting skills and bond with their baby.
We are seeking a dedicated Overnight Residential Support Worker to join our team. Reporting to the Program Leader you will provide highquality support to small steps residents addressing individual needs and fostering independence abilities community participation and overall quality of life. You will use sound judgement to solve problems and make decisions within clearly defined activities routines while adhering to policies and procedures. Additionally it entails the responsibility of promptly informing the Program Leader of any necessity to file a Mandatory Report if a child is deemed to be unsafe.
About the role:
Attend meetings or debriefing sessions with the Program leader as required
Collate information on overnight incidents for reports
Support residents in developing selfimprovement life skills and advocate on behalf of clients when appropriate
Liaise negotiate and work with individuals from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
Provide program information to residents and their families
Assist in protecting children at risk by monitoring the level of risk to infants of families engaged in the program
Report any significant night disturbances that may occur to the Program Lead
Prioritise tasks manage competing demands and work effectively under pressure
Efficiently follow through on tasks until completion or as otherwise agreed upon by the Program Leader
About you:
Relevant experience in working with young mothers children and other vulnerable people would be an advantage including some knowledge regarding child development
Have a genuine interest and understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by young single mothers including the issues that may impact their ability to achieve life goals
Have consideration understanding and respect for the residents and their families
Recognise the importance of consultation where applicable and collaborate with colleagues managers external parties and other stakeholders
Appreciate the need to use initiative and find positive solutions in response to identified needs
Able to work autonomously and harmoniously within a broader team environment
