Job Description
The Office of Sponsored Programs at Virginia Tech is seeking a Post Award Team Lead Sponsored Agreements Management to serve as the firstline manager for all nonfinancial post award management and final closeout of sponsored research awards. The lead will provide professional administrative management of personnel and complex grants contracts and cooperative agreements. The lead will be responsible for portfolio management of awarded sponsored programs ensuring Virginia Tech policies and procedures are following all federal state and other sponsor rules and regulations and responsible for adding or revising policies and procedures as needed. Management of sponsored awards includes: contact with the sponsor to request prior approval facilitating rebudgeting obtaining nocost approval managing complex costsharing requirements managing program income subrecipient monitoring including closeout of subrecipient receipt of contract release and award closeout.
The team lead will also serve as the technical administrator of various sponsor systems accessed by the Post Award Team for NonFinancial Management to accomplish prior approval requests progress report submission vendor setup on sponsor systems in a timely and compliant manner. This responsibility also includes role/access maintenance user administration and certification.
Team leaders are also responsible for exercising sound decisionmaking and problemsolving and for assisting in the development of administrative procedures to comply with regulations affecting governmental and industrysponsored agreements. Team Leaders
provide leadership for research administration foster teamwork and collaboration and demonstrate high commitment to customer service by applying skills and experience to research administration and ensuring compliance with federal state other sponsor and
university regulations and guidelines. The Grants and Contract Management Team Lead provides aid to all departments within OSP and acts as a liaison with the sponsor. This position may also include supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree or a Bachelors degree with significant relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a Masters degree.
Grants administration experience in a research or academic environment.
Demonstrated accounting and budgeting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant research administration certification such as CRA (Certified Research Administrator) or CFRA (Certified Financial Research Administrator) or completed within 6 months.
Previous supervisory experience.
Demonstrated leadership and independent initiative.
Work experience with federal and nonfederal grant and contact regulations.

Additional Information
This position is eligible for an onsite hybrid or remote work arrangement which will require the completion of a telework agreement in accordance with Policy 4325 Alternative Work Site and Telework Policy. The final work arrangement will be confirmed upon hire.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
